Well here's the solution. Due to a Windows 7 bug, the scenery won't add properly because the OS thinks it needs a "file" not a "folder. If it does not work, back out, and do it again. Watch LIVE! Instead, clicking "OK" after selecting the folder containing the scenery simply opens that folder, and fails to add the new area to the Scenery Library.
Click on the "Add area" button and then locate the folder that contains the scenery you'd like to add these are normally but not always placed in the "Addon Scenery" sub-directory of your main FSX folder.
Select the folder containing the scenery by clicking on it ONCE. Then click "OK" this will open that folder. Right-click there's a bit of technique to it, but give it a few tries This should select the correct directory, and create the new scenery library at the top of the scenery list.

The scenery tile got added to the Scenery Library, but this time when I went to Free Flight I right away checked the Scenery Library and the tile had disappeared again. Am I doing something wrong?

I read about adding the scenery manually in Windows 7, that is, clicking in the file folder window. It did not work. I am having this problem in biuld and FS9. Won't surprise me if it's FSX also. You think it's the Windows 7 administrator rights?
Do you have a kneeboard problem in FSX with win7? I didn't find nothing with google to get help. Hey guys I have been using FSX and Windows 7 Beta for a while tooI had the same scenery adding problem, previously, To add sceneries you had to select the folder then close the scenery selection box and it will add, but be listed as a blank and you couldn't change the name, then it magically started working properly after an update.
These was only a problem for manually installed sceneries, ones with an installer added fine. Seems to be an issue with where the scenery. FS9 acts the same way however the scenery. The "solution" is simple. Actually it is or should be the other way around. If you do some research the scenery. The file in the ProgramData folder should be the one that gets modified. After installing several addon sceneries my scenery. My guess is that your system cannot access the ProgramData folder so as such it has been defaulting back to the 'backup' scenery.
Hi FolksI think I have found a way to add sceneries, manually. I have managed to change the permissions of the ProgramData directory.
