I tried downloading the Radon catalyst driver from the site, but when I installed it I couldn't find any option that could change my AA. Also, I'd like to say I don't know much about changing graphics card settings. All of these experience the "fast forward" problem. Regards Howard.
Now then, LNCPapa's statement is exactly correct for this situation, because if the CPU is faster, it will count that number, well, faster! And thus my make-shift pause timers would go much quicker on a faster CPU. And thus I had to raise the number or just program a real timer! The programming for those games expected CPUs to be a certain way, and nobody new the CPUs of today were possible back then. So it is certainly true because your CPU, as well as video card, process those calculations so much quicker, it makes the game move faster.
I've experienced this phenomenon as well. Couple things you could try: One is to try loading the game in XP compatibility mode. Create a shortcut for your game, unless you have a shortcut already.
Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. Then go to the compatibility tab, and select for Windows This just might work. The other option is to find some sort of emulator that will process the game in the same speed of an older computer, or basically limit your PC. But I've not looked in to those. I will if you're interrested, I might be able to find something.

So I personally gave up on using multitasking to push the card and decided instead to do what everybody else does to push these cards—enter Doom 3.
As a game, Doom 3 is the culmination of a heckuva lot of programming and game engine genius. Like the game or not, there's no doubt that at least for now Doom 3 is the most advanced real-time graphical renderer you can find. Push the individual game graphics settings all the way up to challenge any card on the market right now well maybe not the fully loaded ATI XXT. You'll be able to put the brakes on the Pro in x with everything turned up, but it's of no importance because the Doom 3 experience, fully tweaked at x is still quite marvelous.
Ditto for HalfLife 2. Performance in x is also totally playable. While all of those large vertex buffers demanded by Doom 3 and HalfLife 2 benefited a bit from the additional RAM, the difference wasn't enough to justify the difference in price or the overall marginal improvement in playability.
The only time the MB board came into its own was when we ran Doom 3 and HalfLife 2 in x and higher, providing noticeably better performance overall. The Radeon and cards are largely gone. You'll find some cards around and quite a few and cards still available and cheap too. But the performance master in the affordable range of high-end cards is definitely the Pro. To my way of thinking, the choice is obvious. Cons: We experienced problems with HydraVision, specifically incompatibilities with Konfabulator the free Widget utility for displaying all sorts of cool information on your desktop , Firefox the browser and Maxthon another browser , among other programs.
Oct 4, 53 0 0. For City of Heroes, there's a known issue with the latest ATI drivers causing things like "flashing" on certain surfaces. I see the same thing with my Radeon Pro on certain walls, roofs, and doors. It's annoying, but definitely a software problem whether it's ATI's fault or Cryptic's fault, I do not know. Your problem looks like bad ram but its worth a try turning off fast writes. Yeah, I set the card to 4x AGP and turned off fast writes to see if that would work, but I got the same issue. Would it have been possible that the card overheated itself without overclocking it?
My system runs pretty cool and nothing is overclocked at all. Either way, I guess I'll RMA it and get a new one, but the question now is should I get more fans for my system or just assume the card was bad on it's own?
I tested some of my other games, all which gave me similar errors. In Vice City, the squares were very apparent and the white dots were also there, just not as noticable. I went ahead and filled out an RMA to get a replacement card, so hopefully within a week I'll have a new card that's not busted. ZeroHr Junior Member. Aug 8, 2 0 0. Had the same problem with Desert rats vs Afrika Korp and Doom 3. Unistall the drivers restart the machine and install using the latest updates I used 4.
Like I said I had to unistall the drivers than install the drivers using the newest version after rebooting Running a pro AIW never had any problem with ut or call of duty just with the 2 games listed it was in special lighting and shadows that I had sprite sparkle. Aug 5, 19 0 0. The artifacts are being caused by an overworked i. Since a pro should have no problems running either of those games, you should RMA the card and get a replacement.
But, as I say, since it's a new card you should return it. I doubt that changing drivers will solve this. Well, I RMAd the card and got a replacement one. As soon as I hooked it up and tested the games, everything was perfect. So it was a faulty card itself, probably with bad RAM.
The thing that threw me was that it took a month for the card to mess up, without any overclocking or anything. I hope it was just the card, and not anything else causing the card to go bad.
I guess time will tell, but for now, everything looks great.
